this was good, but there was too much miscommunication for me to want to reread. i really like sarah macleans writing, though.

Mara is an unrepentant ass that ruined a man and then had the audacity to demand more of him than she’d already taken. She comes out of the woodworks, not out of guilt but for money, continues to paint him the villain of HER story as if she didn’t frame him for her murder. It doesn’t matter that that wasn’t her intention, it happened and the least she owed him was the truth and yet she could not bring herself to tell him because it wouldn’t gain her anything. She thinks him unreasonable for wanting retribution against her, when she ruined his life. For 12 years he thought the worst of himself and she’s surprised? He couldn’t even remember what happened that night so why wouldn’t he believe the lie she orchestrated and involved him in against his will by drugging him and covering him in blood. Temple deserved way better than Mara. I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that she was not only forgiven for what she did but also rewarded.
