i admit i loved threadneedle but the MC wasn't allowed to do magic. this to me was the perfect novella showing more magic and world so much more could be done in the future with different paths/languages of magic i'm excited. I loved Rowan in the 1st book which i admit meant i was worried abut this one because when it comes to side characters getting their own books i end up hating it but no this i loved because Rowan was still Rowan.
Is she perfect far from it often getting magic wrong just because she keeps daydreaming she is a typical kid sometimes she makes mistakes other times she does the right thing. She is a good person however and this book to me was about her finding herself, realising its ok to be different she doesn't need to be popular. Rowan makes friends including boys and learns alot in the summer she spends with her Aunt.

I already really loved this world when I was reading Threadneedle, and that wasn't any different with this novella. Rowan is a fun, relatable character, and I loved how the magical and teenage issues seamlessly merged together and still made for a very fun and relatable story.

Felt a bit young for a YA novel, with some obvious exceptions. Otherwise good.

I read this as an audiobook and I wasn't the biggest fan of the narration. But it was otherwise a lovely coming of age novella sprinkled with fantastical elements and a lot of cosy vibes.
I think it was a bit too juvenile for my tastes and I was a bit underwhelmed by the reveal of the culprits but it's an easy, low stakes read and can be finished in just a couple of sittings.

This novella was perfect as an audiobook. Super cute pallet cleanser, especially if you like cozy fantasy. This was a coming of age story with a very low stake mystery to drive the plot along. I enjoyed following Rowan through her journey of making new friends, discovering her integrity, and sealing her first (very innocent) kiss.
