*I was able to read this book early via NetGalley thanks to Avon!*

Her Adventures in Temptation is a pretty classic rake-meets-bluestocking romance. He's an artist who feels like he has to behave perfectly at all times to overcome his bastard birth. She's a mathematics whiz who always says the first thing that comes to mind. Together, they're pure chaos and it's wonderful.

There's also a fun fake engagement element at play, plus some pining, posing for portraits, and plenty of cake. Basically, a lovely time all around. Sure, there were times when the book felt a bit circular or repetitive, but it basically ticked all my boxes when I was looking for an enjoyable and generally lighthearted historical romance!

This a great series of engaging men and their love stories.

In this book. Simeon Jones, an artist, meets Myrtle Allen when he is accused of having an affair with her sister in law and Myrtle enlists him to leave to London with her so she can start her life on her own terms rather than marrying as her brother was insisting.

When they get to London Myrtle is enlisted to help her niece get through the Season, and she ends up being "encouraged" by her brother to present to be engaged to Simeon when they have been too friendly in public.  The misunderstanding of this book is that both are in love but don't want to be the reason the other doesn't use their gift (Simeon's art and Myrtle's head for numbers).

I really enjoyed the characters and assume that the next book will be Fenton's since he shows back up and his "mystery" is discussed among the group.  This book was a bit more lighthearted and not as plot heavy as others, but it would be a good choice for readers who enjoy books about independent women and bluestockings.

This book is also one of the few where not only are children not a big part of the story, but there isn't an epilogue that includes them having a baby to round out the story.  There are few of those books so that makes this one more special.  A great series to check out.

I received a preview copy and am giving an honest review..

This is a light, funny romance. 3rd in series, no content warnings. Really liked both MC’s. He’s a smooth-talking, socially adept artist (met in last book) she’s a mathematician with no social filter. The opening chapters were really funny and zipped along; the fake engagement storyline required a lot of “romance reasons” hand-waving but was fun nonetheless as he taught her to lie (by design) while she taught him to be completely honest (by example). Medium steam, low angst, very quick read.
