This was SUCH a fun read. The title and cover alone had me interested, never mind the description!

I sped through this one because I legitimately did not want to put it down. It was cheesy and tropey and ironic and brought me so much joy. It didn't take itself too seriously on the zombie side of things, but it did take the time to show deep rich friendships and characters, June's perseverance is something to aspire to.

I've been to a lot of cons, including ones for The Walking Dead cast, which just added another layer of fun for me. When I go to megacon in Manchester this weekend you can bet ill be looking around wondering exactly how the zombie con outbreak would work there and where I'd be running to!

4 stars from me because I know I'll read if again, and cheesy tropes aside, it was seriously fun for me to read.

This is a fun read, though some parts left a lot to be desired, it was a good book about friendship, which were tested long before the beginning of the story
Spoiler(and partly left me a little annoyed because I'm sorry but that girl isn't your friend June, Blair deliberately went after the guy you were kind of going out with, and of course he turns out to be the biggest douche canoe in the whole freaking world.)
though of course in YA fashion it's all going to be resolved by the end, of course it is, especially since you know the whole zombie apocalypse is following you around, what better time to have a heart to heart with friends.... and try not to die.

One of the good things about this book is the friendships June, Siggy, and Inami reminded me of my friends and how we are when we are around one another.
SpoilerEven though I swear that June is Bi, Inami is in love with her but also knows that nothing will come of it because well sometimes you don't want to spoil a friendship, and Siggy and her boyfriend need relationship counseling, but also Siggy needs to have better time management.
The pace is also something that kept me reading because I needed to know how they were going to find one another but also get out at the same time.
SpoilerAlso the freaking Authorities in this book need to read about the apocalypse and watch zombie movies, because what was the point of sealing the convention center only to try and bust into the damn place and potentially letting out this virus into the world.... SERIOUSLY??????

Human Wasteland, the show in the book feels like the walking dead yes, but also you have to love how close the cast was, even if some of them were mean to our main girl. I loved Hunter and June's interactions, they barely knew one another but clicked so quickly, because when the apocalypse comes who has time to actually date like normal people do.
Spoiler But also I wish he had way more time in the book, it felt so rushed into the story, I think this should have been a two book situation here, but we don't have time for that.

Lastly, Janet and Linus, honestly I loved them most of all in the story,
SpoilerI was sad when they died.
I mean Linus was great and the hero we needed, but also the quips he came out with were great. Janet, would be the Jamie Lee Curtis of our story, the former Horror movie actress who made June love zombies (Yeah I know it might not be Jamie Lee Curtis but honestly it would be cool wouldn't it, because Jamie Lee is a total badass)

Three zombie obsessed best friends find themselves in the middle of a real life outbreak at their long awaited zombie-com.

June, Imani and Siggy are loyal followers of Human Wasteland, a Walking Dead esque series about humans during a zombie outbreak. When Zombiecon, a huge con celebrating all things zombie, arrives in their small town, they're desperate to go. But amongst the panels and autograph opportunities, there are a few strange moments...

What a fantastic book. Funny, serious in the right spots, stakes high enough for it to mean something - (read, people actually die) - a romance that honestly I could take or leave; he was nice and sweet but was it really the time? and girls figuring things out and making a go of it themselves! I'd love to see a sequel, since the girls were obviously exposed to whatever caused this. Also, how handy that this happened at a zombie convention where everyone present knew enough about zombies to fight back!

I really enjoyed this read. It's funny, cute and great escapism. I recommend it very highly.

This was a fun, YA zombie com read.
June and her besties Imani and Siggy are at Zombie Con. They're huge fans of all things zombies and a show the Con is based around. Meeting the stars (especially cute Hunter) is going to make for a great day. Missing is their friend Blair who started dating the guy (Scott) June was dating... Well, Blair is there. But not with them. June actually misses her. They've all been friends since elementary school and she is betrayed. But still human.
Then a real life outbreak happens. They team up with famous and non famous folks alike to try and survive and get out.
Strong, smart teenage characters with a little angst and little teenage love in the midst of a fast paced zombie read.
