4.5/5
This was a great written book! Know that this is book two of the series but could be read as a stand-alone. It’s about a girl named Rachel who basically gets everything ruined in one day and goes to visit her hometown to work with her mom for a while where she meets again her brother’s best friend who she had a crush on for a while. Then there is bad boy Brody (the best friend) who isn’t doing well with the family business and needs Rachel’s help. I really enjoyed the whole story of this book. It was very interesting and entertaining. I was hooked from page one as I just loved the author’s writing style and now she just captured my attention. Before I started reading, I knew I was going to love this book because I love bad boys also steamy romance in my novels and boy was I not wrong. The author did well with the writing with this story by having great pacing, story structure, characters, etc.
This book is written in both Rachel and Brody’s poc and I liked that! You get a visual with how each character thought of the other. I enjoyed both character’s development because they both grew so much and they have always been part of a reputation that no one would let them relax from. I also enjoyed the amount of side characters that were involved in the book. The author written many but I love how it wasn’t somehow overpowered in the book. Then there was the romance which is the best friend’s sister trope. I haven’t read many good ones before and this is probably going to be my favorite. I do have to say that even though this was my favorite of the best friend’s sister trope, I did have some problems with it. I felt that the relationship went a little fast and didn’t have that slow burn feel to it. I love seeing more slow burn where the characters are learning about each other. Other then that the romance was steamy and I would say it’s a 3.5/5 level of steaminess!
The ending was well done for this book and to be honest this book was a really great read! It was super close to a full 5/5 stars! It was just that one minor problem but other then that it was a great book. I need to read the first book now just to see what that one is all about but I can’t wait for book three! I totally recommend this to fans of After (bad boy rep) and Tessa Bailey fans!

4 hrs. I devoured this book. I love the small town feel and the misunderstood man and woman. Ugh it was so good and the chemistry and all the little nuances with other characters and family ties. Just so good and steamy and sweet. Just all wrapped into one. Just the idea of being seen for who someone really is, is just wholesome and gratifying to read

This is the second in the Wilder series and I am on board for these brothers. I have become totally invested in what's going to happen next. It very much reminds me of Penny Reid's Winston Brothers or Jay Crownover's Retreat series. I think the plot to steam to character development was the perfect amount and I cannot wait to dive into book #3.

I have been reading various books in this series depending on what’s been available. This book is a take on a “bad boy” and a “good girl” and it was clear that trope was being followed the entire time. I liked the book, but it didn’t feel terribly original or have that special something. It was predictable and there were a lot of cheesy lines and moments. Overall, it was good for a quick, easy, and mindless read, but don’t expect much depth or originality. 3.5⭐️, 3🌶
