This book is partially just reductive and filled with cliches about women (introduces us to each character by telling us what they hate about their bodies), and partially filled with poignant truths (socialization of women for male validation, etc.). Very readable though.

This was an easy book to get through. It was not a very interesting or new story.

This is a book every woman should read.

This book made me feel so incredibly sad. Even though I was on the verge of crying in the entirety of this book, I’ve never felt so seen. Then even more sad because of why I related to these women. The way they talked to themselves made me want to give each of them a hug, but then I realized I also talk to myself the same way. We really are our biggest bullies.

If I didn’t finish this at work I would be sobbing in my room.

The writing is really good, but the subject matter is the most depressing in the world. Women being horrible to other women and to themselves, men behaving badly. I was not mentally ready for it. LikeI said. The writing is solid, which is why it got 4 stars. The subject matter was NOT for me.
