Olivia and Caleb are both sick and twisted in their own way. Soulmates. Psycho, but soulmates.
This story was compelling, fast paced and to say that every character is morally grey is an understatement.
I found Olivia a bit annoying at times— but she’s also manipulative and not completely right in the head so I guess her getting on my nerves was a given.
What I found a bit confusing was the many references to all the awful things she allegedly did to Caleb, when said actions are barely mentioned/described. We know about two “events” in particular but otherwise, we don’t learn how far her manipulation went, at least in my opinion. It was particularly weird to me considering that Caleb himself isn’t all innocent, but Olivia is the one deemed as the most manipulative and evil.
Long story short, The Opportunist was gripping and easy to read. A twisted, morally grey romance with a bittersweet ending. I’m definitely intrigued enough to pick up the rest of the series.
Moderate: Death of parent
Minor: Kidnapping and Rape
