The Book of Delights

This book is quite delightful (go figure). I think the prose is nice and rambly, a comfortable place to land and let the mind stretch and then curl up for a nap.

It didn’t really excite me, and that’s okay. This book doesn’t have anything to prove, and I don’t need to prove its delightful-ness. Pick it up if you want a zany, meandering, yet ultimately cute little romp.

I smiled through the whole book, then immediately wanted to start my own.

How I choose to rate this book, a 1-dimensional factor: five stars, projecting meaning onto what that could signify, a flimsy representation of the soft way in which these essays often grounded me in my body while also lighting up my brain, sometimes with love and sometimes with pain, always with unabashed laughter at how ridiculous it is to be a person and live in the world. Though if I could, I'd give it 4.5 stars for one too many essays from the airport.
