This was an incredibly engaging volume, and definitely one of my favorites! It certainly picked up the sense of what was lacking in the previous ones. We spend about half of the volume purely on Loid's backstory as to his childhood and how he became a spy. This was done so incredibly well! It was emotional, gut-wrenching, and critical on the nature of war as well as giving a much deeper understanding of Twilight's character.
Seeing him lose everything, and the reunion with his friends got me teary-eyed.
I LOVED that this was included. The rest of the volume wasn't quite as good, but I still enjoyed it because we got more Yor! In fact, good progression was made for the overall plot by having Yor become more involved in it (an excellent choice that I think was necessary!).
Yor meets Damien's mother, thus becoming a (unknowingly) more active roll in Operation Stryx.
This was SO good, and an excellent set up for how the manga will continue moving forward without dragging and repetitive.

This volume hits hard with Loid's backstory being the first chapter. Seeing his childhood and the role that the war played on how he views life now is impactful and heartbreaking. The rest of the volume does slowly go back to the lighthearted and familiar dynamic of the forger family.
Yor makes her first friend in this volume and I cannot wait to see how this plays out in the other volumes to come. Anya is still being her cute and troublesome self which always brings a smile to my face. We even got a chapter centred around Sylvia which was new but never the less enjoyable.
