Read more graphic novel reviews at www.graphiclibrary.org. This volume opens up on several young children playing, pretending to be soldiers in the war effort. One in particular never has a toy gun like the rest because his father disapproves of their make believe. Then, the war breaks out between the East and the West. The kids become embroiled in the ear for real, and one of the children grows up to become Twilight. In present times, Yor goes out to find cookies for Anya and ends up befriending Mrs. Desmond, the wife of Twilight's target! The wait was definitely worth it to get Twilight's backstory. It was tragic and touching, and I enjoyed watching him evolve into the super-spy. Endo acknowledged that, at some point, he would not have been as good as he is now, so I appreciated seeing his humble beginnings and the struggle to get to what we know him as in the present day. There was definitely a tone shift with the beginning of the story to what we normally have, so Endo had to liven it up a lot with Yor's silliness in the second half. not loid's tragic backstory T_T and yor making friends with
melinda desmond omg!!

this might be a dumb thing to say but tbh I don't love the action scenes in this series, I'm here for the found family and character interactions T_T I also don't find franky that fun... but thankfully the rest of the humor works for me lol

I'm hoping the forgers slowly start to get less afraid of showing some affection-- everyone's so pragmatic all the time, especially when it comes to the loid/yor dynamic... i'm reallyyy craving more relationship development for them because atp why shouldn't nightfall have him?? yor definitely seems to have feelings for him but idk about loid y'all T_T but I trust that they'll get there <33
