Now it's off to Switzerland for our daring duo, this time to get a special ingredient for a cure for a poisoned Roman tax collector. Highlights for me were the cheese fondue orgy, Obelix jumping off the ship when the Swiss start yodelling and the sneeze that nearly caused an unfortunate accident.
CUCKOO!!!

These books are full of bright, fun and delightful characters who go on various adventures and get to beat up a bunch of Roman soldiers. Accompanying the story and the characters is a plethora of clever puns and word play that the translators should get a medal for. There are always a few gags or phrases in Latin that may mean nothing to the non-Latin speakers (such as myself) but Google can lend a helping hand there.

The Swiss are funny. This is a nice adventure, a bit more adult in the content as most Asterix albums, but not too much.

This volume introduces more "adult" themes such as the "orgy" scenes. It also features a rare dark overtone in that the plot involves a victim of attempted murder. The added element of potential death offers a startling but refreshing moment of drama in the otherwise whimsical series. Other references include the confidentiality and high level of security of Swiss banks, fondue, Swiss clocks (especially cuckoo clocks), William Tell and the Michelin Man.

Surprisingly dull book. There's some flashes of humour, but neither the plot nor the jokes about the Swiss are consistently entertaining.

The plot of this one is predictably straight-forward: the heroes go out to seek a valuable item, face adversity, overcome it with magic potion and return with the item.

Minus points for the bad puns and the sometimes offensive stereotypes.
