I don't usually enjoy mysteries--but I flew through this book and it kept me intrigued, slightly creeped out, and guessing right up until the end! I love the ambiguity it is laced with, and the ability of the reader to ultimately decide which explanation of the events they believe is the real one. Very, very fun.

I listened to the audiobook periodically while running, it's a great book for long runs, kept me interested and made the time go faster. Great narration as well.

I really liked the concept of this book and parts of it were great but it was a bit too long in my opinion. They kept circling around what was happening and drawing it out. I also wasn't a huge fan of the POV character, he's kind of an asshole. And the main female character read a bit like a manic pixie dream girl sometimes. But the overall story investigating the woman's death and "was it magic?" and the creepy horror movies was interesting and kept me reading.
Mortal fear is as crucial a thing to our lives as love. It cuts to the core of our being and shows us what we are. Will you step back and cover your eyes? Or will you have the strength to walk to the precipice and look out?
Not sure what to think…. Some good quotes, however.

I have really mixed feelings about this book. I stayed up until 2 AM to finish it, which I do not recommend since parts of the book are really, truly creepy. However, I don't think that it was all that well written. The long, poetic monologues and generally anything describing Cordova's films came off as pretentious. I couldn't read the "Rolling Stone" feature, Cordova's answers were so painfully pompous and nonsensical.
The twist ending(s) were compelling, but
I like the idea of a book with interactive features, but it doesn't make up for the fact that 'Night Film' is a mediocre book, held up by a handful of scary set-pieces.

I think it would have been best if the book ended with Gallo's explanation. Chasing Cordova to Chile to create an open-ending was a cheap ploy.I like the idea of a book with interactive features, but it doesn't make up for the fact that 'Night Film' is a mediocre book, held up by a handful of scary set-pieces.
