This book was SO LONG and not very well written. I kept waiting for a payoff that never came, so I was especially disappointed in the length.
Ummmmm WHAT
Okay so I’m super disappointed with the ending like what was even the point of the whole story if that’s how it’s gonna end BUT the majority of this book was AMAZING!
So suspenseful and tense! I was genuinely creeped out at some parts of this which I LOVED! Nora is freaking adorable and her character growth was spot on. Also Scott’s daughter was one of my favorites and I don’t even know why.
I highly highly recommend this book y’all like this book had me fucked up big time

I cannot for the life of me understand why this book has so many 5 star reviews
I was completely immersed in the world of Night Film. It was scary, intense, and wonderful. I see a lot of reviewers comparing this to [b:House of Leaves|24800|House of Leaves|Mark Z. Danielewski|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1327889035s/24800.jpg|856555] which I was unable to finish after having the book checked out for 2 months. The app was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed the multimedia found in the printed novel.
I gave 3 stars because for the first time ever a book gave me a jump scare, which I didn't think was possible. The story is interesting, I loved the supernatural witchy vibes but I just really hated the ending which kind of stripped a lot of the fun away.
This book was fantastic! I loved the way the author mirrored the path of the story after the way the mythological Cordova created his films; the shared symbolism, etc. One of the best books I've read recently.
A smart, layered thriller with a satisfying ending. I felt a little emotionally disconnected from the story at times, but ultimately, I loved it. It's a fascinating play on the noir genre, and Pessl twists just the right things.
I stuck through this, even though I thought about abandoning ship at page 400. For all the atmospherics, the pace felt slow, and I wasn't sure I cared what happened. Things picked up toward the end (at the Peak), only to peter out in a disappointing resolution. Enjoyable enough, interesting book concept (lots of visuals), but not sure it was worth the investment.
