 I am haunted by humans

I don't think words can describe how much this book effected me, I don't think I've cried so much about a book before. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. And the characters, I fell in love with Liesel, Max, Rudy, even mama, but most of all PAPA! Is there a more excellent man than Hans Hubermann, he really is everything an orphan girl could need in a parent.

It really made me feel like I was there experiencing both the horrors and joys of this poverty stricken community in Nazi Germany. It's also apt that a story about the holocaust is narrated by death.
It really offered a unique perspective of the time/place.

Was this one of the best books I've ever read, yes. But I'm not sure my heart could cope with me reading it again.

idk why this was such a difficult read but it felt like i was reading it for years.
aside from it being slighly draining and long, at times i did find it very emotional and it did have potential to be my favourite at some point, however it lost that title after the 300th or so page.
the writing however was very good and the characters were likeable, even the bitches and the mother

Dang y'all. This book has me on the edge the whole time. I love a book with interest throughout. My nerves were shot with each new chapter. The ending did not disappoint.
