Way too much smut in this book for my taste. I might not have minded as much if I was in the mood for it, but I wanted more of a fantasy plot out of this. It definitely fell into that 2nd book trope of so much time being spent “traveling.” Could’ve had a lot more planning or strategy from the crew toward the actual plot. Really interesting world, gods, etc. that I would’ve loved to seen explored more, especially since a lot of the book was taken up by smut rather than world or plot building. The best part of the book was the last chapter, which might have motivated me to read the next book in the series since I wasn’t sure if I would continue.

The plot was slow going and it felt like there was quite a bit of filler but I liked where the story is headed.

Not a lot of character development when it comes to Raina or Alexus but there are new POVs through which we get to know other characters. I look forward to reading more about Nephele and Neri.

I just didn’t enjoy it. It was too slow and I just didn’t feel invested in what was going on.  I kept trying to continue it but in the end I just didn’t  want to.

It’s weird, because I’m definitely into this series, but I’m also easily distracted from it. I plan on continuing it, but I think I’m going to wait until the last book comes out next month.

I didn't like this quite as much as the first book. Fair warning, the first 50% of the book is almost entirely smut (pretty good smut, I admit) and romantic drama. The plot picks up very abruptly about halfway through and then it's chaos and other kinds of drama, rushing towards some plot twists and a big cliffhanger. I would say this definitely suffered from middle book syndrome, but I did like the new settings and characters we got to meet, and getting to know some characters from the first book a little better. I really didn't care for
the filler plotline about Raina magically losing her feelings for Alexus and then her pretty quickly getting them back, and I'm even less looking forward to her being in a reverse situation now. I like seeing relationships progress, I don't like watching them go in circles, even if the circles are magically induced. I also didn't care for the "Oh no, Finn is mortally wounded! Oh no, it's okay, Raina saved him! Oh no, actually he's been murdered!" I did suspect he wouldn't make it though after his post-healing character development.

These plot twists get me! The way Weaks builds the worlds and the characters within blows my mind! This book is even better than the first!

I can happily say this book does NOT have second book syndrome… all I know is that I LOVED every minute of it & it took this story from great to INCREDIBLE!
Everything went up a notch, the world building, the character development, more povs (that’s I’m SO invested in!) more magic & even more spice!!! The banter & angst was perfection along with all the relationships building into a found family - it’s every thing you want from a continuation in a series.
The pacing was perfect, I was hooked the whole way. So many twists & turns, I didn’t want it to end. The author managed to surprise me & keep me engaged the whole way through.
It had me gasping at points, smiling & laughing at others and then absolutely distraught at the end.
I can not believe it ended the at it did - but also WOW! Now I can see how it all lead to that & I NEED the next books asap
That was outstanding!
