It took me a little while to get used to the writing style, but once I did it was a fairly quick read. I liked the short chapters/letters it made for easy breaking points. There were times where I skimmed over Nettie's letters; I was more interested in Celie's. It's one of those books that I feel that I should read at some point in my lifetime and I'm glad I did.

Heavy reminder that we all want to be loved and have someone choose and pursue us. Deserving of the awards it's been given and written in easy to consume journal entry style writing. No answers, just leaves you with the heaviness of life and especially life for black women in the early 1900s

Engaging story, interesting characters, and incredibly well-written. At some points a bit hard to follow, but that's mostly due to the unfamiliar sociolect.
