Enjoyable right from the start - coming off a very slow build read I loved how quickly this drew me in. Will and Violet are great, I love the tension between Will and James and the Stewards world building is really interesting.

I was slightly thrown off by the ending (definitely thought it was weird that Will touched the stone and was fine, and actually did initially wonder if Katherine had brought the tree to life) but still didn't expect him as the Dark King. Why did he arise when his aunt was killed if his mother and the girls were still alive? Maybe this will be addressed in the next book
