Absolutely amazing. C. S. Pacat's writing (and worldbuilding) is, as always, a joy, and I was captivated by the way the story's universe was built. There's plenty of characters but they're all so fleshed out and distinctive in their goals, experiences and ways of thinking that each and every one of them, no matter how fleeting in presence, caught and held my attention. The only reason I'm putting off reading the second book is because I know that once I do, it'll make waiting for the third one very difficult.

It took me a while to get into this but once all the puzzle pieces started to fall in place I was absolutely hooked.

The first few chapters were a bit confusing because everything happened at once, but that didn‘t hold on for long. You grow to love the characters, the world and the story fast as the book drags you more and more into an old magical world. You will want to know more about this ancient world and how it still affects the more modern world. I love reading this book and was excited to continue reading this series.
