I actually figured one out! I'm so proud of myself, haha. It was fun seeing how all the pieces fit together once I had an idea of what the solution was going to be. This has all the marks of a classic Christie mystery — the red herrings and secret identities and imminent danger, as well as the less favorable aspects like denigrating adopted children, using a slur for Italian people, and other questionable elements. And you can tell the books when Christie was getting up there in age (she was around 72 when this one came out) because there are a lot of characters going on at length in disapproval of various modern trends and fashions. Anyway, this was typical for a Christie mystery, but I enjoyed it slightly more than usual because of it being a rare case that I actually put the pieces together early on.

This one was a little messy. Sometimes I was more invested in Miss Marple's journey to finding a new, more compatible housekeeper who would let her solve mysteries than I was in the actual mystery.

Hmm.. not one of the best. I had trouble keeping up with the characters, and found some to be (purposefully) annoying. But the solution paid off, for sure and bumped it up a star.

Good, as most Christie stories are, though a bit slow in certain parts.
Pretty interesting story, a famous actress who longs for children of her own and multiple murders. Trigger warning for some old-fashioned and offensive ideas about children with intellectual disabilities. Mrs Marple is given the respect she deserves in this one.

This was such a great read, clever plot and unexpected end. I was so far from resolving the mystery! Miss Marple does it again. It's true that you should never underestimate her!
In this book, some minor characters were very interesting. I don't know how Miss Marple didn't kill Ms Knight, her live-in helper employed by her nephew!! Idleness is definitely not one of our amateur sleuth's characteristics!
