We have a winner! And honestly, that result seems spot on for those two characters. I'm honestly a little surprised that Goku is jumping right back to the Dragon Ball search, but it makes sense since the 4th has special meaning to him.
As far as these bad guys? Not a fan. They're rather egotistical and stupid. (I'm sure that was highly intentional.) Are they knock-off Soviet military? I don't know. This is my least fave section so far. It makes me want to face palm too much.

Typical Dragon Ball volume, not much to say. Lacks the excitement of the first four to be honest.

The tournament wraps up satisfactorily and then Goku leaves the team to go search for his grandfather's dragon ball. It was good to see him leave the team and go out on his own. Of course he encounters bad people looking for dragon balls for nefarious reasons. Along the way he has a couple of fun fights, the best of which is his fight with the funny ninja on the fourth floor of the tower. Super creative and entertaining. Another excellent volume.
The tournament ends with a long final match in which Goku faces his first potential defeat at the hands of Master Roshi and then ventures on his own to search for the dragon balls. Here he meets the Red Ribbon Army who will be the main adversaries for the next few volumes. Goku begins the muscle tower but with his strength it doesn't seem like he is ever in any real danger. With the lackluster villains, solo adventures, and an absence of humor this volume is only average.

I fucking love how the vibe of early Dragon Ball is basically just "what if Bugs Bunny was a cute little martial artist". The Looney Toons physics and logic is just so much fun lol
