Where do I begin? First of all, I love lit fic that features deranged women doing crazy things and Big Swiss did not disappoint! It’s the funniest book I’ve read in a very long time. In fact, I laughed out loud several times at different quips and observations. Big Swiss covers a lot of dark subject matter, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously and is very tongue-in-cheek. Let it be known that the only thing I judge by their covers are books and just look at this one!! 5 stars all around.

Weird & darkly humorous. Found myself entranced but also struggled to feel as though some of the emotional dynamics taking place between characters were earned.

The narrator is excellently written and funny as hell. While this book didn't knock my socks off, the premise, the cast of characters, Greta's way of going about her life -- it's all so charming, dark, and engaging -- this book has quickly become one of my favorites, and will probably be one of the "comfort books". One potential reason why I love it so much might be because I had it audiobook format, and the cast of readers did an amazing job.

I loved how weird this was at times, but also still relatable. I read transcripts all day, but I still enjoyed reading the transcripts here. Greta was a messy character and I respected her just bobbing along, seeing where life takes her. Big Swiss was a strong force. And I wasn’t squeamish at the sex scenes because they were so damn funny.

If you’re a fan of Ottessa Moshfegh or Melissa Broder, you’ve got to pick up Big Swiss! What a weird book. It’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s creepy, charming, funny, heartbreaking, and unsettling.

This is now my gold standard for "disaster woman" books. So many bad decisions are made and I was on board for all of them. The descriptions of the house are incredible and I could write an essay on its symbolism. I laughed so hard so many times at things I would be embarrassed to describe because they wouldn't be funny at all out of context.
I hate when books are described through other books, but this felt like the fucked up Aunt of Milk Fed and My Year of Rest and Relaxation.
Highly recommend if you liked either! Please check the CWs though

"You're the vain one, not me. I'm only checking to see if I exist. I feel like a patch of moving fog most of the time. When I look in the mirror, I'm always startled to see a head and limbs."
