I usually only leave 5 stars for books I feel like I would reread and I don’t know if I would read this one again. I just think already knowing what happens would take away from the story. But anyway I still loved this so I’m going against my rules! Funny but also heartfelt at times. Greta is such a weird character and I loved her

I tore through this. A complex female protagonist with unmanaged trauma and a tendency towards the bisexual? Count me in! 

This was such a funny portrait of a place and the fucked up people that try to run away to that place and what running away gets you. We all end up in our own shit and either rot or deal. I was grateful to watch these characters grow and try to deal and struggle and overcome. Good book.

The main character becomes SO unlikeable. She refuses to admit her wrongs despite the fact she is 20 years older and in a position of power over the love interest. It’s nearly grooming. Greta is a deeply unlikeable main character with either narcissistic personality disorder or borderline personality disorder

Why is this book such a big deal? The characters were too unlikeable to have any sympathy toward them. Only characters I liked were the dogs and the sex therapist.

I feel like this started off so strong, but towards the end, too many things were happening that it became a little overwhelming and unbelievable. It is still incredibly unique and, at times, grotesque, and I will definitely be thinking about it for months.
