I really enjoyed the first book of the series; it's definitely a book that leads up to the next one.

The main characters are set into place and you can see the struggle and turmoil building for Catori in which way she decides to go in her life. She has a male on one side and a male on the other; choose faerie life after being marked by one or choose hunter and follow her ancestors with the man that was reborn with the memories of her best friend?

I'd like to see a why choose one and just choose both; but I guess we will see what happens in the next book of the series!

4.5 rounded to 5 stars!

This book through me for a loop from the first or second chapter. Not at all what I was expecting, but in the best way possible. A really unique story. I love the Native American background to it all, the high fantasy added. Very well written. I would likely recommend this to anyone, especially lovers of fantasy. Well done!

I didn’t really know what I was going into with this book, I didn’t know it was about faes and a lot of high fantasy. but it was quite nice for the first half, after that, it became a little weird and I didn’t really understood what was going on.
I also thought there were way too many people in it, where some of them didn’t have a meaning to the story, and Cruz disappeared for like half the book, and then he suddenly was the bad guy.

I probably won’t be reading the next two books in the series, and don’t really think there should be more books, it ended pretty fine I think.

also the whole plot with her best friend was so sad and also just awful. they should just have ended up together and no suicide. it would also be a better story for the romance part.

overall it was ok, nothing I would have bought on my own or have picked up at the library, and it was confusing, but very ok.

Catori was a normal girl, going to college on her way to becoming a doctor, then her mother dies. She comes back home to bury her mother, when someone walks into her life that changes everything. Everything she knows, everything she feels, and changes all that she believes in. Faeries and Faehunters exist. How did her mother die? If it wasn't a heart attack, what was it?

This is my 1st book into Olivia's world and I am not disappointed in the least. I can't wait to start book 2 in the The Lost Clan series. I don't know where it's going, but I know where it's been, and I am loving it.

Great for lovers of all things fae and supernatural, with a little native culture thrown in. We have a little love triangle setting up I think, so that's always fun.

I read this book because it was recommended to fans of Karen Marie Moning’s fever series. It didn’t quite hit the mark, but I feel like the first book set the stage for the rest of the series. I also feel like it’s a little unfair to compare this single book to the fever series because it has been a decade since the release of Darkfever and we are all addicted to characters and plot which KMM has developed over 8 books. However, I remember being so enthralled in Darkfever that I was literally scared of the shadows (IRL). Nevertheless, I have high hopes for the sequel.

I was cautious going into this just based on the Synopsis, white people writing indigenous people, has a history of being done poorly and honestly I was already weary just from the line "a tattooed Native man, who wasn’t supposed to be alive"

But I recalled enjoying, Of Wicked Blood, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

It wasn't worth it, The poor taste in my mouth from the synopsis was a warning for the things to come.
The writing was dull at best, it was hard to continually stay engaged.
Then we get to this new dude, grilling Cat about her name. Specifically questioning the fact that is Hopi in origin rather then from her Gottwa. But then the text makes it sounds like her mother's name Nova is from her Tribe's origin but if you search google for a translation such as this you find a lot of "In Native American the meaning..." as well as posts saying the meaning "Chases Butterflies" has been previously misattributed to Hopi Origins.

I am white so I don't feel like I have the right to speak on whether it's right or wrong to create a new Native American tribe for the purposes of a story or not.

I will say that it wasn't in reality necessary, you want to tell me a bunch of white people came to inhabit the Wisconsin in the early 1800s that were fae, stuff happened, they "died", got buried and forgotten about. Something that is completely feasible in the course of 200 years.

Oh how I missed fantasy books about the fae folk. I would say my reading is quite varied but coming back to this sort of novel was just so lovely. Not what I fully expected when I read the blurb, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I have read some of the negative reviews regarding the credibility of the Native American history, but really this book doesn’t state it’s based on facts. This is a work of fiction. And if you are going to throw in fairies and fae-hunters, you must ask yourself whether the facts are really that important.

But away from that. I loved it. This book only lost one star because the only character I kind of warmed to was Cruz and I felt I needed more of him. I have a niggling feeling that he is going to become a very important part of the storyline going forward and I hope he is given more time in the next books. Catori annoyed me at times, especially when it came to her indecisiveness, but she is young and kind of thrown into the deep end, so I can live with her flaws – I suppose no one is perfect.

I can’t say more about the story without spoiling in, but I can say that for me this was a great escape from a reality into a world that I can’t wait to read more about.

Thank you to the author and #TBConFB for access to this book in return for this honest review.
