I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book follows Catori, who goes back to her hometown after her mother's mysterious death.
I enjoyed a lot of the parts of this book. It was so refreshing to see Native American representation in YA books and the mythology was written in a really interesting way.
Considering that this book came out 5 years ago, I was really hesitant about having hopes for a main character, who's not absolutely obnoxious but Catori was an mc I could really feel for and I definitely liked her.
Yes, this is the first part in a series but still, the plot just got a bit too messy for me at the end. The characterisation seemed to completely change and I don't know where some of the relationship changes came from.
Apart from that, I did really enjoy this book and am considering reading the next part.
