WOW. An incredible classic. Touches on topics of christian morality, duties of the individual within society, the extent to which people will go to for love, faith in god and humanity, the toxicity of masculine power, reality vs supernatural, and the societal structure of the early 1800s. Seriously a new favorite. So many beautiful lines and ideas are expressed through each event, and it really emphasized the power of remaining kind in such a cruel world. i wanna reread it already.

Bronte dispatches a commentary on society while imparting wisdom and a passionate love for God in her writing. I will assume the abrasiveness of the men she writes of reflects the times and her own voice is prominent in the fire of Jane even in her submissive behavior. She often remarks on her passion and obstinance going against what is commonly thought good.
I never imagined this book would be so beautifully written.

I don’t know how to describe this story. Tbh, the drama in this book is CRAZY. I thought this would be a normal regency romance with some darker tones, but this turned out to be a drama and mystery story with hints of romance in it. I usually enjoy stories with lots of drama, but this story surprised me more times than I thought it would! I was pleasantly amazed by Jane and her keeping her convictions about marriage. Jane’s definitely my favorite character. On the other hand, Mr. Rochester was……eh. In the beginning, I had mixed thoughts and vibes about him. And even at the end, I still wasn’t a big fan of him. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this! And while I don’t particularly like Mr. Rochester, I’m glad Jane is happy and is finally living a life she loves.
