Esta novela es una incursión en la mente de una joven independiente y de espíritu inquieto, que desde la primera página hasta la última, nos cuenta su historia en primera persona, y siempre dirigida a nosotros, al “lector”, como ella misma nos llama.
Vi hace muchos años una adaptación cinematográfica de Jane Eyre, y recuerdo que me decepcionó un poco. Esperaba una historia romántica y caramelizada, y me encontré con algo bastante diferente. Y es que, tras leer la novela, me parece que esta historia no casa del todo con el género romántico, la historia de amor es más bien ácida, y en cambio, sí asistimos a los dilemas morales que se le presentan a nuestra protagonista, y a las muchas situaciones a las que se enfrenta. Resulta inevitable pensar qué hubiéramos hecho nosotros en sus zapatos.
Es una novela íntima, contada y leída muy intensamente, tiene unos diálogos muy inteligentes e irónicos, con unas descripciones preciosas de los parajes y escenarios donde transcurre todo. Los personajes están muy bien construidos y descritos, siento que conozco a Jane profundamente y que será difícil olvidarla.
Si tengo alguna pega, los personajes masculinos: impertinentes, dominantes y egocéntricos, me han chirriado mucho pero qué le podemos hacer, estamos hablando de una novela y escritora de la época victoriana.
Cien por cien recomendable, novela clásica por excelencia y candidata a muchas relecturas.

Belle histoire très bien écrite. J'ai beaucoup le fait que ce soit Jane elle même qui raconte son histoire, on peut donc voir ce qui se passe à travers ses yeux et son propre point de vue
most of this book could've been an email. it was kind of boring in the beginning, then it got interesting, then it got weird, then it got boring again, then it got weird again, and then it had a happy ending. Not sure I agree that Jane Eyre is a huge feminist/if it holds up as well in present day compared to other literary classics.

This book is so good. I never had to read it in school so I read it for the first time as an adult. I strongly recommend it if you also didn’t have to read it in school, or even if you did and are considering reading it again. It’s wild to me that it was written in the 1800s. The commentary and central themes on the personhood and individuality of women is worth the read all by itself, and the story is excellent on top of that. Absolutely loved it.

There are terms used that were typical for the time (1800s) but would be inappropriate or offensive to use today. Time period accurate sexism and racism. Though for the time the book is quite progressive in terms of its treatment of women and commentary on women. Time period accurate depictions of insanity and how the insane were treated (poorly).

En klassiker med gotiska inslag, den var ganska bra och det var intressant att följa en ung kvinnas uppväxt och hennes liv och är en av dem första böckerna jag ändå tyckte var lite kul att läsa, även fast jag inte hann läsa ut den🌝
