It was a struggle not to DNF. Everything important is laid out in the first part if the book with the remainder being painfully drawn out despite there being no new information that was truly relevant to the plot. The characters are either completely toxic, selfish, or difficult to read. The love triangle is essentially a pissing contest between two obsessive, abusive men. I couldn't get on board with either of them even though it seemed as though the author was attempting to give the MMC a background that would make the reader empathize with him; it just didn't feel successful. The MMC is a walking red flag and the fated mates trope couldn't make up for how unlikeable and awful he was throughout the book. Maybe there is more character development in the remainder of the series.
The dialogue between characters was stilted and it read like bad acting in a sitcom.
I skimmed the last 25% to see if it would pick up or if there would be a plot twist to convince me to move to Book 2, but unfortunately this was not the case.
I'm unsure whether there are two versions of this book out there, so maybe there is an edition that has better editing. The version I read was labeled as "Whitney's Version" on Kindle Unlimited. I ultimately found the majority of this version to be incredibly boring and poorly written/edited with lots of spelling and grammar mistakes. I see lots of 5 star reviews so maybe I'm missing something or the version I read on KU is not the final, published copy.
I know lots of people enjoyed this book so maybe it just wasn't for me.

Love triangle. Caught myself rolling my eyes so many times at all three of them. Two toxic dude. Might as well add the toxic female.

So technically I didn’t read all of this. But it’s not fault cause it’s kind of awful. I’m giving it 2 stars because I can’t give 1 star if I didn’t read the entire thing. Ill try and sum up what I hated.
-insta love. Okay fine they’re fated mates or twin flames or whatever. But like the author gives us NOTHING. It’s just “they fell in love because they did”. And this is literally the first like 5% of the book. Not much to build off of!!!!
-also at 16% in I was questioning if I had downloaded a novella. Cause it’s basically all sex. And like cringey sex. Which is fine, but that’s not what I was thinking I was going into when I bought the book.
-it was written so confusing. I’m 16% and so confused about multiple things? Who’s who and such.
-also at 16% we know the entire “plan”. Like the entire point and mystery was given to us. Why tf would I read 400 more pages? You told us the entire mystery and we can all guess what’s gonna happen from this point.
-zeke was such a lil simp for raven it was not cute.
-raven was a whiny little baby.
Idk. I’m sure this is gonna be right up a lot of people’s ally. I however, did not vibe and am not gonna torture myself and keep reading. Might just go read the last two chapters for kicks and gigs

As a debute book for the author, I think she did pretty well, the world-building was good, the characters, I would've like a bit more development but I liked Raven. The plot was enjoyable, I like the dark side of it, also being a triangle I know it's not for everyone but for me I enjoy them so I am up for the ride for what is next to come.

This was a decent start to a new series but I feel like it felt a little whiplash like with the constant back and forth of the FMC saying she was in love but then wasn’t in love with the MMC. I kind of wish that lovers to enemies had been stretched out a bit more instead of right from the jump. Overall, I’m excited to read the second book to see how this continues!
This book was stunning. Everything about it. From the story to the characters to the cover, all stunning. I loved Raven and everything about her. This had me feeling all sorts of emotions from happy, frustrated, and SO DAMN INTRIGUED.
Raven was just amazing. Her character felt so real to me and so very developed. Her sass and her darkness was addicting to read. If I could rate this more than five stars, I totally would. I am looking forward to the next one (especially after that ending!!!!) This was an amazing debut!

✨️Overall Story Opinion:
I'm OBSESSED! I love the world and character building as well as the general storyline the author has created. The female MC is a badass and I absolutely love those kind of characters.
