This was a great book. This was my first ever ARC read and I was so thrilled to be able to read it. This is the author's first book and the first book in a series.
There were a lot of things I really enjoyed about this book. The story was interesting and unique. I was never sure where the story was going to go. I loved that this book was dual POV as it gave me good insight into the storyline and the characters. I also loved the use of magic throughout the book and the growth we see in some of the characters.
There were a couple things I didn't enjoy, unfortunately; however, these are more just personal preferences. I don't really enjoy instant love. I'm the kind of person that likes to get to know the characters and see their love blossom. As I kept reading though, the relationship grew on me. I'm also not a huge fan of love triangles, but I'm interested to see where this goes in the next books of the series.
Overall, it was a great book and I can't wait for the next one to find out what happens next.

A Kingdom of Flame and Fury by Whitney Dean
——————————————————
“Twin flames are two halves of one soul. There’s an intense connection that can’t be replicated. There’s pain associated with flames, both people mirroring one another. When you find your twin, you can’t be apart from them without going a little mad.”

I really liked the premise of this book but it just wasn’t hitting right. The first half of the book for me was about our main character wanting to get laid and dancing around and it didn’t go anywhere. I wanted to like it, but I got more frustrated and bored. I didn’t care for the characters or wanted to see how they went. Sucks that this was my first read of the read and I had to DNF it.

WOW.
^ That’s it, that’s the whole review.

Whitney Dean is an author who has officially blown me away with her writing more than anyone else ever has. I know a lot of my reviews talk about emotions and feelings, but hear me out.
I had to actually take a break for a day because this book had me on the verge of an actual meltdown.
Raven is now my new favorite character out of any book I have ever read. I’m 100% positive it’s because I resonate with her so much. (Besides one part of her, iykyk.) She goes through so much, and I have found myself having the same feelings and thoughts she had throughout the book.
“𝑻𝒐𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝑰 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔.”
I’m honestly not sure how Whitney wrote Raven without going to a dark place. Her feelings and emotions are so tangible. Her thoughts to situations are so on point that I thought it was actually happening right in front of me.
The story is so unique, I was sucked into it by the first page. The character development for every character was outstanding. I wasn’t sure how some of them would progress by the end of the book. But alas, I was shocked to see how much things had changed.
The backstory, world building, characters, every thing was absolutely incredible.
I also have to say, woooo is it HOT in here? Or is it just this book?🔥 The SPICE in this book is HOT HOT HOT. 🥵
Thank you @ for writing this incredible book, and allowing me to be a part of Raven’s story. 🤍
‼️ This is a first for me to write in a review. But I highly HIGHLY recommend those who have been in abusive relationships to look up TW.
I really think everyone should, but especially those who have had emotional/physical abusive relationships. Like I said, I had to take a break for a day. And I still have a lot of past feelings flowing through. That being said, I still loved it so much and can’t wait for the second one. ✨🤍

**ARC Review**
I’ve been getting more and more interested in PNR romance, getting my feet wet here and there! This was a great book that ties in that fantasy with the dark themes!
Raven is the strong FMC that doesn’t want to take any ish from anyone while trying to find herself! She’s dealing with the darkness inside of her as well as the two loves interest that are in her life. Zeke & Cade those two are very possessive over Raven so much so they butt heads for sure! I love Zeke! While he is protective of Raven, he pushes her and treats her like the queen she is!
Cade has been there for her through out her entire rein, he’s been there to direct her and protect here! I’m
Not going to lie, there was part of this book where his character really started to piss me off! And he started to lighten up at the end, I’m interested to see how things pan out.
Can’t wait for more of the series!

I need the next book like ASAP! I was moving pretty slowly through the first few chapters of this book thanks to real life slowing down some of my free time for reading so it took me longer to get into it than I would have liked. However, once I was finally able to sit down and really read more than a chapter at a time I was consumed by it. The way the story unfolds kept my attention and was full of suspense that kept me guessing what would happen next. Some of it I didn't see happening some of it I did but it was all so good either way. I felt so bad for Raven and some of the uncertainty she goes through. Then certain choices she makes that I felt were not exactly a choice she made had my heart breaking for her on so many levels. Then we have Zeke, the mysterious man who enters her life that she can't seem to stay away from. This man.. there is so much going on there I don't even know where to start. I love him but I also got really mad at him then I felt sorry for him and then I didn't. It was so much from start to finish. I love the way his character was written. And the way he ends up... omgggg... I finally got used to all the facets of him only to realize nope there's a whole other side of him I haven't seen yet and it's so different from how he has been the rest of the book. But I loved it! Like whoa - he was already intense and hot before but now whew lol!
The magic is cool and I love the different ways she can morph it and use it. Just the whole entire plot was so entertaining and I cannot get over some of the things these characters said to each other. Some were so romantic, some were so sad, and some were quite funny. The ending had me floored and I cannot wait to continue with this story because I have a feeling it's going to get wild in the next book! If you really like fantasy, swoon worthy romance and a pretty good amount of spicy scenes with super steamy tension and flirting in between then you will love this book!

Wow! Holy cow wow!! What a book. This book was intense. Fated love, love triangle, dark magic, dark romance and some serious betrayal.
Intense is all I could use to describe it. The feelings between the characters, the twists and turns, the spicy scenes (not for the faint hearted).
I did get a little sick of Raven feeling so down on herself but it was really my only vice of the book.
Ends on more of a set up for the next book/ cliffhanger.

This book was stunning. Everything about it. From the story to the characters to the cover, all stunning. I loved Raven and everything about her. This had me feeling all sorts of emotions from happy, frustrated, and SO DAMN INTRIGUED.
Raven was just amazing. Her character felt so real to me and so very developed. Her sass and her darkness was addicting to read. If I could rate this more than five stars, I totally would. I am looking forward to the next one (especially after that ending!!!!) This was an amazing debut!
