eee this book was great. I enjoyed the character development and the over settings.
Is it 2017 yet so I can read the next one? Basically that escalated quickly at the end and I can't wait to read on and see what's in store for sunshine!
This was a general meh.
The first book in this series was fun and creepy. This one takes Sunshine away from Nolan and her mom and in doing so moves the foundation of the whole story line. The mysteries behind Sunshine's birth parents and her powers are interesting enough, but for me there was none of the emotional involvement that the first installment provoked.

**This review is based on an ARC from Netgalley, release date 3/1/16.
I read the first book of this series as an ARC as well and really enjoyed it. I have recommended it to quite a few students in my high school library, and will probably do the same with this one. I am not good at remembering details from books that I read last year, so I was glad that I was able to fill in most of the blanks on details from the first book while reading through this one. The author did a good job of reminding readers of the major things that happened in book one. This book mostly takes place in Mexico, where Sunshine is training to be a luiseach with her birth father, Aidan. She discovers that she is much more sensitive than any luiseach that has been known and that she is being hunted by her birth mother, who thinks that she is the reason that the whole luiseach community is going extinct. Sounds weird, right? It all makes sense as you read though! While this is going on, Sunshine is trying to learn how to control her body and emotions when surrounded by multiple spirits that want her help in moving on. She is also dealing with typical teenage problems, like her feelings for her protector and friend, Nolan. I really enjoy the writing style of this author and it is a quick read. I have already put it on the list of titles to purchase for my library and am looking forward to the next installment.

The concept of the series is interesting, but the writing doesn’t flow. Several word choices pull me right out of the story. Also, I don’t understand why Sunshine has to be accident prone. There are plenty of other things teen girls are self conscious about, but this one is worried a boy she likes won’t like her because she trips a lot. Eye roll. I love YA, but this one doesn’t do it for me.
The second book in the series takes Sunshine to Mexico for training with her mentor and father. Sunshine doesn't know if she can trust her father but spends most of her time feeling conflicted about being a luiseach and about her feelings for Nolan and the new boy she meets in Mexico. The story has little of the creepiness of the first book and feels more like a standard teen coming-of-age novel. The final chapters of the book are a whirlwind and too much is left unexplained. An annoying error in plotting/editing occurs at a semi-crucial point in the book, too. (See spoiler alert.) Overall, Sunshine is still a likable character but this installment of the series is likely to leave most readers confused, possibly bored, and probably unsatisfied.
***SPOILER ALERT ***
Part of the story revolves around a new character that Nolan meets in a coffee shop. On page 205, the new girl notes to herself (and the reader): "-- to Nolan's credit, he's never actually told me Aidan's name --" so, when Nolan DOES say Aidan's name on the very next page, it seems notable. But on page 241, when the new girl mentions Aidan, Nathan immediately becomes suspicious, saying, "I never told you his name." But he did! 35 pages ago! This is one of the turning points in the book, when Nolan finally realizes the new girl is not just another student interested in ghosts. Is it a major deal? No. But I hate when writers and editors make these kinds of mistakes!

I'm not sure the next book will get here soon enough!!!
This book is second in the series and I can't wait till the third one comes back!!! Amazing sauce!
I wish goodreads allowed half stars! This was almost a 5 for me!
I am really loving this series and the unique story behind it. I will always be thankful to Paige for sending me her first book! It's the reason I ran out so fast to grab this sequel!
The setting is so far from the first book that you truly feel on a new adventure. New things are revealed every chapter.
So many twists!
I had a lot of fun diving into this. And I totally understand why it had to be done, but I must say I was desperately missing Nolan through his whole book haha BUT
while the ending's cliffhanger will infuriate you there are parts to the end of this one that will have you yelling "FINALLY!!"
Especially if you're a fan of the YouTube series like myself :)
Thank you for expanding Sunshine's world!
