When I first started dating my boyfriend we made the connection we were both big readers but I hadn’t really delved into fantasy other than HP and ACOTAR. So he practically begged me to read something from his favorite author (Brandon Sanderson — we call him Brandy Sandy). I made an agreement that I’d start of reading one of his stand alone books which brought us to War Breaker and ohmygawd I am so glad I caved. I found myself reading this and craving it so much that I bought the audio book to be able to listen at work which turned into listening to it any chance I had a free moment. Brandon Sanderson knows his way around a fantasy plot and felt like I was truly immersed in the world. Lovedddd

It's Brandon Sanderson, so it's good, but it definitely feels a little lacking in comparison to e.g., Mistborn

Sanderson got my cackling aloud in public 🤣 I did not predict any of the twists and I'm still trying to wrap my head around how the events of these books relate to the stormlight archive series but I guess I'll see
Moderate: Violence, Death, Murder, Classism, War, Injury/Injury detail, Vomit, Kidnapping, and Torture
Minor: Rape

Review for:
Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Five out of Five stars.
Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson is absolutely incredible.
Warbreaker is a fascinating dive into the politics of kingdoms, divinity, and the human condition stuck in between the two.
The characters are incredibly written, and the novel is hilarious.
Sanderson is a master of writing, and his details and characters are always absolutely amazing.
Sanderson explores the beauty of color and a strange new magic system that left me wanting more.
Even though Warbreaker would have been excellent as a stand alone, since it was originally going to be, I am ecstatic that Warbraker is receiving a sequal.
I can't wait to dive back into this work.
Brandon Sanderson is a master of literature and I cant wait to read more by him.

-this was a RIDE. Idk what I was expecting but it wasnt this! Esp towards the end
-the character and relationship development was all so good
-amazing magic system as usual (I feel like this is a comment on all of his books)
-absolutely ate up the romance crumbs
-i really ended up enjoying all the povs. I didn't like Vivenna's as much at first, but she grew on me after a bit
-loooved Siri's pov (susebron!! Loved his character) and growth
-lightsong was such an interesting character
-i need to know more about vasher, I feel like there's so much history there (prob explored in book 2 if he ever writes it....)
-nightblood as a sentient sword was a great character too, I wish we got a little more of him
-so many secrets!
-there was a bit of foreshadowing that did justify the reveals, I'm just bad at thinking/remembering details so some of it was extra wild to me. My copy did have annotations by the author after every chapter so that was interesting to clear things up
-brandon keeps saying "if I ever end up writing book 2" while talking about his plans for book 2 😭 my dude, you have 17 more books confirmed, I'll be old by the time book 2 comes out (if it ever does!).
-docked .5 stars bc I felt there were more plot holes than in his other books. More times where I was confused and some parts were a little slow, but overall I understood everything and really enjoyed this book and how it all came together

This was fun! Not as tight as Stormlight but better written than Mistborn, cool magic system, interesting interaction with the Cosmere (wish I'd read before Words of Radiance/Oathbringer) and some light social commentary to boot. Liked it a lot!
