I don’t know what it was about this book but it was a struggle for me. I enjoyed it but at different points I found that I couldn’t put it down to couldn’t pick it up. The pacing just felt off too me. 

Tisaanah is a great, strong female lead. You see her grow in her strength abilities and as person experiencing the world. 

Max is my spirit animal. Because I too am not made for many things. Max and Samarin are funny and worth it. 

If I’m meant to hate Nura as a character, I don’t. 

If I’m meant to not trust Zeryth, not only do I not trust him but I want to punch him in the teeth. 

Max and Tisaanah… we’re boring. I’m sorry. It was building so well only to ruin it with the tent scene. That would’ve been better if it was in the next book. Yes this was a slow burn but really felt more like someone decided to light a match halfway through the book and the wood caught fire instantly; not that someone laid out sixty feet of fuse and lit the end.
