A light-hearted, passionate, “enemies to lovers” rom-com where the comedy is actually funny and the characters are loveable. It is idealistic and a bit overly optimistic about the world, but I think that’s the point. Anyways, romance novels are never really supposed to be too serious, and I really enjoyed the dynamic of the two main characters (as well as many of the sides too).

I. Loved. This. Book. I cried I wanted it to be real so bad. I saw so much of myself in both Alex and Henry and it made me wonder what the world could be like. The side characters were hilarious and there were so many heartfelt moments. The love letter emails were so Jane Austen; it was amazing. I now want spin offs of Nora, Bea, Pez, and June because I just want to hold on to these characters a little bit longer.

4 stars.

Oh man.... this book was good. Really good, just was it good enough to win The Goodreads Romance category?

I’ve read most if not all of the Goodreads winners in this category over the years and this is not my favourite.
You know if you look through I love me some LGBTQ romance novels. This book was cute, smart and very brave. I just felt like it was a tad outlandish?

I enjoyed the characters but some of the time I was confused by them? Was this supposed to be a thing? I get being young is confusing and if you aren’t sure who you are then I can understand it. It just seemed like all the young characters had no idea who they really were?

Maybe I was missing the sex that came with the passion? I don’t always need sex with romance but the passion and writing was so beautiful it just was lacking something.

Anyways. 4 stars. Not bad but not my 5 star fav.

Boring, unfunny, and just tragic. I fell for the hype, unfortunately. Each conversation seems to have been taken out of a random romcom. I couldn't stand it any longer.

I can see why this is so important for a lot of queer readers. I liked all the characters and appreciate the references to queer history McQuiston always includes. I just personally prefer One Last Stop, I think it’s written better and means a lot more to me.

This book made my heart flutter in so many ways. I want love like this. Truly one of my favorite books I’ve ever read.
