2.5, the beginning was good but felt it dragged for such a short story.

Stephen King has a way of writing that is both really long winded yet you hang onto it even when he’s talking about things that don’t seem to connect much to the story.
But they add in flavor, they add in so much character and he has a way of spinning supernatural elements into otherwise normal thriller stories that make it feel like you yourself are just imagining the supernatural elements, jumping to conclusions and I am still unsure if this was a ghost story or not.
But perhaps it was in a different sense. The ghost being guilt, the man who was the main character is haunted by guilt and his choices. So many times things just unwind because of one decision he makes and you feel like “all this over an argument? was it really worth it” but even being the monster that he is you feel for him because of how King humanized him.
You really get into his head and feel like “god i wish he had not done the thing, i wish he had just lived happy with his wife and son on that farm” but King often doesn’t write tales with happy endings but that doesn’t really make him bad.
This is a tragedy, almost reminds me of a Shakespearean tragedy as there's a level or irony whifting through the pages.
