Und wieder hat sie es geschafft. Kaum denkt man, man versteht die literarische Welt der Amélie Nothomb, kommt sie mit einem Buch daher, das gleich alles wieder auf den Kopf stellt.
Dieses Buch ist eine Neuinterpretation eines Werkes von Oscar Wilde. Man kann die nothomb'sche Version aber auch gut ohne Vorkenntnisse lesen. Dass ich das Original nun auch kennenlernen möchte, steht natürlich ausser Frage.
Interessant und auffällig in diesem Werk ist Nothombs Hauptfigur, Graf Neville. Der ist nämlich durchaus sympathisch und man kann seine Gedanken und Befürchtungen als Leser/in nachvollziehen. Das hat bei dieser Autorin Seltenheitswert.
Doch schon bald merkt man, dass genau das der Clou ist. Sehr geschickt eingefädelt, Frau Nothomb. Erneut ein kleines, aber sehr deftiges Buch aus der Feder einer sehr fiesen Autorin, von der ich einfach nicht genug bekommen kann.

Ein wundervolles Buch! Eine Geschichte, die mit witzigen und geistreichen, cleveren Dialogen punktet, mit einer simplen aber doch spannenden Handlung, mit verschiedenen Charakteren und einer grandiosen Psychologie im Hintergrund. Klasse. Wunderbar. Hat mir so gut gefallen! Für mich das erste Buch der Autorin und ganz mit Sicherheit nicht das Letzte. Da fängt wohl eine kleine Liebe an... Ich fand es unglaublich toll, wie die Autorin mit wenigen Worten eine Kulisse erschafft, eine Atmosphäre, ein Gefühl für den Charakter, den wir hier begleiten und wie gut sie seine Gedankengänge beschreibt. Für mich ein sehr besonderes Buch, welches ich nur empfehlen kann. Dazu kurzweilig, witzig und spannend - eine sehr schöne Mischung. Ein bisschen makaber sogar, was ich sehr mag. Tolle Lektüre, für die ich nur zwei Tage gebraucht habe. Sie ist ja auch nicht sehr lang, dafür aber wirklich gut.
One of the things that has always struck me about Amélie Nothomb is just how diverse in genre her books are. You never know what you’ll find, and it is guaranteed that every Nothomb book is very philosophical and eccentric. Le Crime du comte Neville is no different. It is the story of a man who is told he will murder one of his guests at his garden party. Preoccupied with the notion of committing murder, his daughter Sérieuse asks him to kill her on the day of the party, thus fulfilling the prophecy.
As most of Nothomb’s books, this was a quick and easy read. Her dark humour is ever present within the story, critiquing the end of the aristocracy and questioning the prestige of social class. This book will have me scratching my head in the wee hours of the morning wondering: where does she come up with these stories?
I would recommend Le Crime du comte Neville to fans of Nothomb’s books.

This was an extremely short and quick read, but there was a big story in there. It deals with depression, with how aristocracy holds up in the modern world and what being noble means. The logic that is used in this is totally warped at times, but I can see how upbringing can do that to a person.
There are a few unanswered questions and the ending was very sudden to me. But all in all, I'll definitely will be reading more by this author.

Hommage assumé à Oscar Wilde, Le crime du comte Neville est un roman (encore une fois) ultra bref. Il faut se faire à l’idée, Amélie Nothomb fait et continuera de faire dans le court. Cette année, je ne sais pas quoi penser de son nouvel ouvrage. La brièveté de la chose m’a laissée sur ma faim. Conte absurde, portrait [...]

Dans son style caractéristique et grotesque, voilà encore un roman d'Amélie Nothomb à dévorer! Ce (petit) roman, on le lit en une fois... Géniale, la façon dont elle se moque gentillement de la noblesse belge... Les dialogues entre père et fille sont savoureux. Et la fin de l'histoire... J'ai adoré!!
