I absolutely loved the raw honesty of this book as well as the story itself. I felt very connected to the author and all the rest of the characters as the book progressed. I did however find it kind of long and just wanted it to all wrap up in the last few chapters.

I recommend this book to almost everyone but especially if you have an interest in mental health or if you have ever been through trauma that made you consider therapy. I recommend this to people who work in therapy social work or healthcare. It starts off slow and you may say “why do I care about this” but when the author starts drawing parallels between her experiences with that of her patients and experiences with her therapist it’s very interesting and enlightening.

No rating because memoir/memoir like.
.
While reading this book, I often wondered what parts were fiction and what were real to be able to protect the privacy of her patients and therapist. As someone who is in therapy, I enjoyed seeing/reading about therapy from the therapists point of view. I loved the learning aspect of the book, understanding what tactics therapists use and how - not that every therapist uses every tactic mentioned in this book, but it was nice to see. I especially enjoyed reading about termination, how we carry these relationships with us even after termination of the relationship. I would recommend this book to certain people, but can understand why it wouldn’t catch other people’s interest!

One of the most moving books I've ever read

About life death, love and the therapists in between.

I would recommend this book to anyone curious about or suspicious about the thereputic process as this very funny and extremely moving memoir gives a fascinating insight from both sides of the couch.

As humans we are all frail but we can be so resistant too. This book shows us how.
