Oh my lordddddd
Okay well I gobbled (🦃) this book up in like 24 hours and I just finished it and I AM SHOOK!!! SHOOK!!!!!!!!
Like okay bro the author did use some gen z slang that was very much not it. It was just in very random places and didn’t fit. Ig. ā€œshe yeeted the knifeā€ or ā€œhe took the L gracefullyā€ like it just doesn’t work, and no one actually says any ā€œgen z slang wordsā€ unironically unless you’re like 11. It was kinda funny tho. Also just type family why is it always ā€œfamā€ 😭😭 (in the clurb we all fam what in the clurb we all fam what IN THE CLUB WE ARE ALL FAMILY ARE YOU RACISIT) (sorry)
Okay but my favourite part? The fucking plot twist. Actually like oh my god. I’m lowkey a god at predictions so I don’t really try to guess what’s going to happen bc I want to be so caught off guard that I put my book down and have to pace around my room. But even when I try not to guess, I still get an idea of what’s going to happen. Or I’m like ā€œoh?! Okay sureā€ and move on. But the plot twist at the end of this book was just so… It felt like one of those roller coasters that just drop you and then pick you up higher and then drop you again. If that makes sense? Like bro.
I thought it was just going to be the devroe betrayal, which I saw coming. And I knew that when her mom was in the gambit she fucked over his parents in some way and figured that contributed to his dad but I didn’t know exactly how. BUT HER MOM FAKING THE KIDNAPPING?!?!? DID NOT SEE THAT ONE AT ALL BUT ITS NOT SO BOMBASTIC THAT ITS UNBELIEVABLE BUT LIKE OH MY GOD

In conclusion, I feel like this is like 3.9 or smthn bc 4 feels too high and 3.75 feels too low. But šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø whatcha going to do

That ending. Wow, what a betrayal. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’m just going to say that this was a really good YA mystery/thriller. It’s promoted as ā€œThe Inheritance Games meets Ocean’s Elevenā€ and I could not agree more.
