The GENUINE terror I felt from one panel in this is something I haven't felt from a book in quite some time. I'm freaking out y'all.

I am deeply and unquestionably freaking disturbed by this book but I just couldn’t stop reading it. The unsettling art and sinister plot are so compelling! Seiichi’s mother just took things up a notch by controlling almost every aspect of his life. While absolutely disturbing, this story is actually really sad: an emotionally abusive mother whose life purpose revolves around her son and a son who can’t break away from her mother’s reins and hideous crime. Seiichi’s just in 8th grade and the amount of trauma he’s subjected to just breaks my heart because I can see how he’s also spiraling into madness.
