I was entranced by this book i can't explain it but the story was such a good mix of an interesting plot and moments aside to build characters and their relationships. better review later

This book was so good!! I read it in one sitting and am obsessed with the vibes. The characters where dynamic and vibrant and the plot was well done. The pacing of the book was great and I just overall loved the style and aesthetic of the book. I highly recommend to people who love horror, dark academia, and a diverse cast of characters.

it’s a pretty good book—i found myself invested in the plot and what was going to happen next. i wasn’t super attached to all of the characters, but i cared about enough that it wasn’t a chore to get through or anything. there are lots of modern-day pop culture references, which are often a hit or miss in general. the writing style could use some polishing and the main character was a little plain, nothing special, but i did enjoy the wlw rep :)

This book was so gross. I loved it. It’s nasty parts were disgusting and I could picture the visuals so clearly. It was awesome.

I was rooting for Finch and Selena from their very first meeting. I loved the supporting characters of Sumera, Simon, Amber, and Risa.

Kyra was the perfect villain and pawn for Nerosi.

The spookiest part for me was when Simon and Selena saw the Echo of Margo. For some reason that really freaked me out. But in the best way.

Overall I liked the writing style and humor of the book. I liked the characters.

I wish Sumera could have been seen as more multi-dimensional rather than always being upset with Finch or Selena. I also wish we had slightly more build up towards the beginning of the story.

It was okay but at times it was really slow. I didn’t care about the character until the middle of the book . There were so many background/secondary characters that I didn’t bother remembering most of them. A lot of which ended up being relevant later and I had to keep checking back to remember who was who. I enjoyed the ending and the reveal at the end. I think it was the most interesting part of the whole book. That being said it wasn’t for me but I think middle/high school me would have loved it.

personally, i couldn’t connect with these characters. i felt like the writing wasn’t the greatest especially in certain dialogue with finch constantly stumbling over words. selena and finch’s dynamic i felt like changed super quickly. selena went from hating her to having a crush on her super quickly. there really wasn’t any building there and it left me disappointed. i was super excited to read a sapphic horror, but it just felt slow and the writing didn’t feel great :(

I decided to pick this up on a whim since it's spooky season, and I also adore sapphic novels. I genuinely really loved the book and how the author portrayed Finch. It was also an easy read and the characters were enjoyable (except Kyra because c'mon girl). The author doesn't go far into depth in terms of learning more about the characters, which I'm okay with but I probably would have rated this book higher if we got more info. The other reason I didn't rate it 4 stars was that the characters took forever to connect what the antagonist's actual intentions were, and I think that the author could have spent more of that time adding backstory and info about the antagonist/characters (especially the librarian who I honestly think has so much potential) or even clearing up some plot holes (What happened to Victor? Why did the antagonist need to restart herp process when the previous group did most of the work?)

Even with that in mind, I genuinely thought the book had so much promise and while some things lacked, it was still a great and easy read during the spooky season!
