This was a hard read for me. I think it’s important and we always need more diversity in the world. But it was hard.

This book was beautiful. I don't know if it is because I VERY closely relate to this storyline, but I was constantly on the verge of tears. I love that throughout the main theme of family there were other very important things along the way (sexual assault awareness and LGBTQ+ representation). This book fits all the pieces in all the right places.

It's always great to hear an audiobook read by the author, but Elizabeth Acevedo's books really shine in that format and I highly recommend it. Her and Melania-Luisa Marte were both such stunning narrators for this book and brought both main characters to life. So many of the reflections on grief resonated with me (and punched me in the gut). An amazing, amazing book.

This might be my least favorite by a tiny bit of hers but I still absolutely loved it and it was so beautiful and well told and so sad but I still loved it
