In this second duology chapter, the silly plotting weighed a bit more heavily on the fantastic worldbuilding. I absolutely  enjoyed it. It wasn’t terrible. Just felt like a long imagined twenty book saga beaten down into a second half of a duology.

I finally got around to reading this and OMFG it wrecked me in so many ways.  The amount of times my jaw dropped and my heartbroken is too many to count.

I think what this book did really well is that it picked up right away and didn’t spend too much time rebuilding the setting and atmosphere from the last book.  This really allowed me t get reinvested quickly and by the end I just couldn’t put the book down.

I think that both Gul and Cavas have good character development thought he book, but I would have  like more of them spending time together and growing that relationship.

The ending was basically everything I wanted, except that there was a trope at the end that I just cannot stand, but I can’t say it cause it does spoil the end of the book.

Overall I had a great time reading this and it was everything that I hoped it would be.

DNFing at 27%. I enjoyed book one, but book two just isn’t doing it for me. Completely personal preference, and I hope anyone else reading it, love it!

A young adult fantasy based on Indian culture with the typical ‘chosen one’ trope. I liked the series and the exposure to Indian culture and traditions. This is such a common trope in young adult literature that I would have liked to see Bhathena bring more to the story to really make it unique. It does do some things well and any fan of UA fantasy will enjoy this series. I particularly liked the living spectors, but I’m just a sucker for ghosts. I didn’t feel a lot of pull to this story. I liked it, but it was easy to put down and read in short bursts rather than being pulled in and reading all day. I look forward to see Bhathena grow and bring more books.

This book was amazing and beautiful in so many ways! I love how the reader gets to dive right back into the series close to where we left off. There are so many magical and fantastic parts to this book! The world-building is by far one of my favorite parts, the author does a lovely job of setting the scenes and building on that. Gul and Cavas are wonderful, they're growth throughout this series is amazing. I love the side characters and the depth of each of the main characters, you really get to sense who they are and what they've gone through and it's wonderful. Even with knowing their flaws they grow throughout the books and it's a magical book with action, adventure, romance, and heart! This is a book for anyone who wants a great story with gorgeous settings and unforgettable characters!

Thanks to NetGalley & Edelweiss for the ARCs!!
