Great story. Loved the sort of twist on the “grumpy + sunshine” trope, and how we all can have a mix of both.

This was my first Emily Henry book and I absolutely adored the entire reading experience!

Although this was a slow burn romance, the plot carrying the story forward was intriguing yet heartbreaking. Even when I was crying I had such a fun time reading and can't wait to pick up another one of her books!

I really enjoyed this book! It was well written, covered some tough topics, and was very sweet, with Emily Henry’s usual wit and emotion flowing throughout. I recommend!

So, Beach Read. Almost as perfect as Funny Story was, and another excellent performance by Ms. Henry.

January and Gus' story is incredibly sweet and relatable. Each with demons that they have to learn to fight, each needing to learn how to open up to each other. It's beautifully written, and all the better for missing the ubiquitous 3rd act breakup.

It's a nice and slow buildup to love between these two, and you just can't help rooting for them to find love, to succeed.

Beach Read is a huge comfort read for me. I love the setting, I love Emily Henry's balance of humor and hurt. This was the first Emily Henry book I ever read, and it feels like returning to a vacation rental: a safe and sunny space where I know exactly what's waiting for me, and I can just recharge.

I enjoyed the book until the ending. I felt like the ending was kind of a bummer.
I also just couldn’t get past the dad cheating on his dying wife. I also really felt like the characters were so broken and messed up that they weren’t going to last for very long past getting together.
