I guess I’m in the minority when I say this book was just fine.
The characters were fine, the writing was fine, the sideplot was fine, everything was just fine.
There was some beautiful moments, I’ll give Beach Read that. Also why Beach Read? There is absolutely no reading at all beach if I remember correctly, mostly writing at beach houses.
Also Gus kept saying that he fell in love with January’s writing. Im sorry, did we read the same snippets of writing?!? Because it was completely bland, a 5th grader could have written better prose.

If I had gone into this knowing that it wasn't exactly a romance, I might have rated it a bit higher. It was more of a contemporary fiction about how everyone is a complete human outside of how you see them, and how people can be so messy, and that love is hard sometimes but you have to hold onto the moments of happiness you get rather than strive for a perfect happy ending.

Good for: People who want a contemporary romance with a little bit of spice and a heaping side of grief. Perfect for those trying to learn to love life again.

Not great for: People who want something super lighthearted OR something on the spicy side.
