I really was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. I went into it completely blind knowing nothing but the fact that this book had mixed reviews and apparently different endings? And honestly that was the best way. The characters were confused and frustrated and made mistakes that made me frown but none of it felt contrived or out of the realm of possibility. Henry definitely struck the golden balance here, enough character building was done that everything the characters did felt true to them. Overall really good and immensely enjoyable.

I wasn't a fan of People We Meet on Vacation (I truly wanted to love it but I just couldn't) so I was a bit hesitant when I started this book. But I'm glad I did! I can't say I was blown away but this was definitely a good and enjoyable read. With that said, I feel like there was something missing and I kind of rushed through the last few chapters. Overall though, I'd still recommend this for anyone looking for a fun romance book.

The Fault in Our Stars but with adults and in 2020. Makes me nostalgic for a boy and late summer nights and warm beer bottles and an empty house

Update several months later: had to add points because I’ve read it five times since I finished

I flew through the first two thirds of this book. I was really enjoying the characters and their banter. Their interactions seemed real and they romance definitely was slow burn. However towards the end I found myself skipping paragraphs and skim reading. I found myself not caring about January's dad and that plotline, and found myself then not even caring about her and Gus. If I rated it on the first half of the book it would get 5 stars.
