I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. It was my first Emily Henry novel and I’ll definitely read more of her work. January and Gus’s story was so beautiful. Both of them working through their grief together and separately was a beautiful thing to witness through the pages.

honestly the most well written romance book ive read in so long, the characters weren't immediately obsessed with each other and became friends and that turned into love, it was sweet and it also had important conversations, banter, arguments, separation periods, it was everything i was looking for. everything about this book felt like the author's love letter to writing and i really really enjoyed it.

The writing is overly descriptive at times, leading to long stretches of writing where not much is happening plot-wise. There were also too many long internal monologues from January - I found myself wanting more dialogue in the book. Cringy one-liners made me roll my eyes a few times.

However, the book sped up after about the halfway point. I enjoyed how the connection (re)developed between January and Gus. Several funny one-liners made me laugh out loud. I felt more of the emotions in Beach Read vs. Happy place - especially relating to January’s relationship and feelings about her father.

Recommend as a (pun intended) quick beach read.

Not my favorite of her books. Like some of btw others, it feels like there were develop more of the characters and plot points. Enjoyable binge read nonetheless.

I can’t put into words how I loved this book! I just like how Augustus was written so by a female because he’s just *chef’s kiss* I ADORE HIM SO MUCH

January on the other hand was also adorable but could sometimes get on my nerves with her reactions.

But like both combined? The dynamic they create is very significant in this book. I like how they just flawlessly fit each other.

AND spoiler

DON’T GET ME STARTED WITH THEIR HAPPY ENDING 🥹

Thank you for this work of art, Em Hen!
