I think the book is well written. It is an interesting premise and the characters were endearing. I think my only qualm with this book is that it felt like January kept repeating the same thing when Gus pushed her away.

I thought the story was pretty good, but the writing was pretty average. I wanted to read this book because of a quote I saw from the book, and that's kind of what the book is like: A lot of decent writing strung together by a few really good pieces of writing. Along with that I feel like the book lacked some emotional depth despite the fact that it was intended to be emotional. I liked the characters, but I never truly got wrapped into them like with other stories. I kept reading because the plot was so good, but I felt no strong emotional connections to these characters like I have with other books. There are times I thought the book was going in that direction, but they never really made it there. I definitely think this book is really good for the right person, but it just didn't appeal to the storylines I usually look for when picking my next book. The characters were still pretty cute together though.

Another lovely read by Emily Henry. It was hard not to pine along with the characters for each other. They were believable, lovable, and easy to root for as always. I finished this in just over a day.

Despite some cringe dialogue and an overeliance on gasping which made me think that a subplot may develop that the protagonist is diagnosed with asthma, this was a fun yet sincere take on the romance genre. Well deserved of being a TikTok darling and popular romance, this book uses a lot of genre cliches well whilst wisely sidestepping the more problematic tropes associated with such novels. My main gripe is the title and packaging of the book: it may be purposeful, but neither do anything to suggest the surprising heart and depth hidden in what looks like it will deliver a run of the mill camp love story.
