I DONT DISAGREE WITH THIS BOOK.
A lot of people have been saying a lot of great things about this book and i am in complete agreement. I became attached to the characters in a way I never expected would happen. I LOVE the way Emily Henry writes her characters, the way that she doesnt follow every exact convention, I love the way she writes feelings.
It's all very predictable in a very satisfying way. It is written solely from January's perspective and I love that because it gives the reader room to question: Am I misreading signals? Is January misreading signals? Are there even signals to read? UGH I LOVE.
And the ending????? IMPECCABLE. PHENOMENAL. I wanted to cry. It was simply perfect. The more I think about it the happier it makes me.
It's the way that he proposes to her on the anniversary of the day they re-met as neighbors but also repurposing his birthday. A day that used to be tragic and hurtful to him will now be associated with something beautiful, someone he loves. I also love their commitment to happy-for-now. Of being happy with being happy and not letting themselves fear the future or the "ending." ALSO THE WAY HE PROPOSED WITH THE NOTE LIKE HOW THEY COMMUNICATED THROUGH THE WINDOW. He is simply perfect. I cry.

Personally, the book was simply perfect to me. We all deserve a Gus in our lives.
AND ITS CRAZY CAUSE HE LOVED HER FOR TEN FUCKING YEARS AND HE WAS ALWAYS QUIETLY PINING FOR HER AND ADMIRING HER AND SHE HATED HIM BUT SHE WAS DEEPLY ATTRACTED. I just love it when the men are the first to fall. It brings me joy and peace.

I cannot stress how much you should read this.
Also people said it wasnt that spicy but it's definitely not a fade-to-black situation.

I adored this book. It may even have been a full five stars for me, but I’m trying to sit with books more before I give them that distinction hahaha. January and Gus were absolutely adorable and funny and relatable in the most gut-punching, tear-jerking ways. This one is a bit of an emotional sneak-attack! The way both Gus and January grow and learn to trust each other and learn to accept themselves is so beautiful and inspiring. I just loved them. Augustus Everett will forever be one of my favorite leading men. He was positively swoon-inducing at every turn, but also incredibly real and human in his struggles. And the BANTER between these two!! I audibly giggled several times throughout the book because of how FUN the dialogue was. So much to love about this book. I read it on the beach in Hawaii, and it really set the mood (even though it takes place on the shores of a lake and not the ocean, haha). Definitely recommend highly!!!

It was such a cute fast read and perfect for the summer! Wasn’t the best book I read tho but such a good story, cheesy, and predictable but fun!
