Beach read:

A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters

My thoughts:
Emily Henry does it again! I finished her latest book and it's been swirling in my mind ever since. This wasn't just a good read, it was a 5-star experience (and I rarely give out those!).

Imagine a fast-paced enemies-to-lovers story, but with laugh-out-loud humor, heartwarming moments, and tears that sneak up on you. That's what this book delivered. It had me giggling one minute and reaching for tissues the next. It's the perfect summer read, and I can already see myself revisiting it when the warm Florida sun hits.

If you're looking for a book that will stay with you long after you turn the last page, look no further! This is one I highly recommend, and I can't wait to dive into Emily Henry's next book.

Emily, I’m officially a fan!

I read this book at the beach with low expectations, and it kind of met those expectations. I applauded the book for tackling serious and complicated subject matter and appreciated the central coming of age plot but the romance left much to be desired. I think most of my issues with the novel lie in cringy descriptions of character and canned “desire” lines peppered throughout to remind us that the Mc finds Augustus soo attractive. I had trouble buying into the damaged ml trope I was being fed. I also felt like more could have been done with the dads storyline and it felt a bit dropped by the end.

This book was sweet, but it was a little depressing. I liked Gus, Janurary, and the cast of supporting characters.
