All was going well until the tent scene what on earth was that! You can’t convince me that was romantic. Also the speech at the end after him just randomly disappearing was just not it.

I think the only reason I give it a 3, it's cause there's some good commentary of the book industry and double standards for women writers. But for a romance book it does take quite a dark turn into heavy topics, that are not always addressed in a respectful way...

this book is just very mid. i didn’t really care too much about the actual romance because they barely had any chemistry. essentially, they were more interesting as individuals than as a couple. i hoped they’d have a bit more of that rivals to lovers vibe but it cut the ‘rivals’ part pretty short. i liked some of their banter but it often turned too cringy for my taste. i also liked that it explored some darker themes which i didn’t expect from this book. overall it was cute but for a romance book the romance was simply a bit too lackluster.

It's got an unputdownable quality as other Emily Henry books possess too. I found it a little twee and very American and sometimes it got on my nerves (it's a little Twilight; big bad damaged wolf boy and innocent little girl next door is the dynamic). But the author actually covers some really dark themes and she manages it really sensitively and with a lot of reality and emotion. And the sex scenes... 🤭 So good!
Ultimately I did love reading it, just not as much as I enjoyed People We Meet on Vacation.

This book deals with some pretty heavy themes. Despite the humor in it, this isn't a lighthearted book.
