Damn, even better than the previous ones. Amazing writing. Best one is easily when Pirx is the pilot of a half human half robot crew, and he is trying to figure out which ones are robots.

Although I can't pinpoint anything in particular, I think that this is the Lem book I've enjoyed the least so far. It's possible that it was a matter of the wrong book at the wrong time. I think the last story was my favourite one but unless one of the stories particularly calls to you I would recommend starting elsewhere if you are interested in Lem's works. Personally I tend to prefer his longer stories as opposed to his short story collections but that is also typical for me in general.

Running from charming blunders to eerie, Lem presents a collection of stories that sees Pirx from his days as a cadet to CO of his own ship. The beauty of this work is the presentation of situations where fantasy is quick to leap in as an "explanation" but when logic is applied, Lem often boils the situation down to the "simple" interplay of physics and psychology. Fast and fun read.

The stories didn't really seem to go anywhere . . . at least one, I was convinced that the author just forgot to finish it. A few of the stories were decently good, but too sinister for me to really enjoy. Also, I feel like the language suffered in the translation from Polish.
