A very good book made better by an excellent oral presentation. Something about the English perspective and story-telling that I find particularly compelling.

Not my favourite in this series. The plot jumps around to the point where it gets hard to follow and it feels like things fall too neatly into Allon's hands. But I was grateful to be spared the nonsensical description of his nose looking like it was carved from wood.

I really liked how Silva went to new places with this book. Probably one of the top two novels in this series.

Having read all of Mr. Silva's novels I was pleased that this was somewhat of a diversion from his previous novels in the Gabriel Allon series. While the Christopher Keller character has been present before, his role was much more prominent in this book, in that he could actually be considered a second protagonist. Also, the book centers around an IRA terrorist while blending in aspects of a previous novel, which I find enjoyable and quite satisfying. Obviously, this comment applies to those that have read the previous Gabriel Allon novels, but even so, Mr. Silva always does an excellent job of "filling in the blanks" for those new to the series. That being said, as much as I enjoyed this book, for some reason (which at this point still escapes me), I can't help but feel this story was perhaps a notch below his best. Regardless, still a quite fun and enjoyable read - 4.5 stars.
